The greatest gift

If God came to you and asked you to sacrifice your firstborn child, your son. Could you do it? How great was Abraham faith to trust God when he was called to sacrifice Isaac, his son. After waiting for 25 years for God to fulfill His promise to him for his son. I don’t know about you but when I ask myself that question if God asked me to sacrifice my beloved son, my firstborn, and my only child. I couldn’t do it. Yet, Abraham was willing to obey and sacrifice his son.

I love my son, he’s my heart, my world, my everything. I would not be willing, my faith lacking, and my heart breaking. I’m just human mother who loves her child dearly. Yet, God sent His Firstborn and Only Begotten Son, Jesus as a Savior because He loved us. To save us from our sin and it’s a price we can’t pay or fathom. It’s the greatest gift we could have if we believe in Jesus.

It reminds me of the veterans who sacrificed their lives to protect their country, family, and the beliefs they hold dear to their heart. I think about the mothers of the fallen who lost their child and the pain and anguish they feel. I can’t imagine what it would feel like but if I did I know I would feel anger, resentment, and bitterness. The reason why I couldn’t sacrifice my son like Jesus or the veterans is we see it too often the lack of appreciation and respect for their great sacrifice and service they paid. But that’s what makes God’s love so incredible. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to save us because He loves us beyond what we could ever comprehend. It’s a gift we can never repay.

My heart is not that big but God is. I appreciate these great men and women who shared their family with us is charity, the pure love of Christ. You are an earthly angel and blessing to us all. I’m grateful for the example of their selfless acts that goes unrecognized, unappreciated, and undervalued. I just want to say thank you with so much love and gratitude. The greatest gift is the love for God, Jesus, and people.

What are you doing to show your love and appreciation? It goes beyond lip service and doing things that show you mean it. Be an earthly angel to someone and light up the world. Shine your light and love as Jesus did for us.

I heard today in bible study that gifts and the Christmas tree is not reason for this season. It doesn’t matter what your current circumstance is but that greatest gift is Christ, the Savior is born. To celebrate His birth, life, and sacrifice that brings us peace, joy, and comfort.

May you find love, light, and hope this season.

Love & Gratitude,
